Course History

Seaford Head Golf Course started in 1887 as a 12 hole course. It was extended to an 18 hole in 1889. The course and the clubhouse were taken over by Seaford Urban District Council in May 1928. In 1940 the Course was requisitioned by the military for the duration of the war and ploughed up for food production, some of this being evident today on the 4th, 15th and 18th holes. It was reconstructed in 1946 and is now the responsibility of Seaford Town Council who manage the Course from their offices in Seaford.

The golf course is situated on an ancient Saxon camp that dates back to the Iron Age. The Sussex Archaeological Society protects this historic site which is situated on the 15th hole

This undulating Downland municipal course has magnificent views from the 12th, 13th, 14th and 18th holes. The Par 5 18th hole plays and exhilarating tee shot from the tee which is 300 ft above the fairway below.
